Angry Earwigs

Something has been eating, roots, sheaths and BUDS! (Can you hear me screaming?!) So I went out to the greenhouse last night with a flash light and there they were, those ugly
EARWIGS
munching away!

What can I do to get rid of them??!! They have got to go.
Thanx!

OrchidTess,
I have found earwigs on a cymbidium plant recently also. Someone on here mentioned a tuna sized can with beer in it. I wonder if that would be enough to distract them from our orchids?

That would have been me. I used to use this trick all the time when I was a rose grower. I hate the little things. Don't use good beer though. Save the good beer for the exterminator, use the cheap beer on the bugs.

Angry Oh I hate them!

I hate earwigs too
It's those darn pincer on their butts!
and why do they call them earwigs?
Do they live in wigs and end up crawling into your ear
only to use that tiny hiney ice pick to burrow into your brain?

I don't do most Dendros or large, "floofy orchids". For me it's minis (like Angraecoides), Masdies, Paphs, and others that crept in somewhere along the line. See my orchid list for complete collection (usually not current.)

Yes, Ross?

To burrow v. - (third-person singular simple present burrows, present participle burrowing, simple past burrowed, past participle burrowed)

1. To dig a tunnel or hole.

It's ok .. I'll let you have your 'moment'
