Default Advice needed to determine possible virus

Hi everyone: I am new. First time posting, and first time finding the orchid board. One of your existing members and a member of our local orchid club told me that if anyone could answer my question, it would be the members of this board. I have been growing orchids for about 25 years.

In repotting one of my orchids ( Lc Princess Margaret, which has a 6 inch lavender bloom), I discovered when I cut the plant apart there is a distinct red ring in the psuedobulb. Somewhere in the back of my mind, I have heard that this is a very serious virus. This is a very healthy looking plant, and one that I have had for years.

I have looked in my orchid diseases book, and checked the web, but have not found any information.

Does anyone know? I would appreciate any and all replies. Thanks

I've seen pics of suspect viruses on catts with red rings...
However it could have been caused by various factors. Getting a test would be the best way to identify an virus, but some are obvious. Can you load a picture?
Are you saying that a cross section of a pesudobulb has a red ring? That doesn't sound virus like...

Hi: Thanks for the reply. I checked the site and it has valuable info, just not an answer to my question.
I have never even scanned a photo in my computer, but will have to practice so identification help might be easier.
I have decided since this problem is not familiar to anyone on this site, I must be incorrect, and will repot the plant, and just mark it as suspect.
Thanks.,
