Default newbie advice on brown leaf

Hi,

New to the board and new to orchids, I bought a few a couple of weeks ago and have been doing a lot of readin, want to make sure that I can take care of these ones before I get more "advanced" plants.

Anyways one of the orchids has a dark spot on the leaf, not sure if this is from shipping or if it is fungus, I can't tell if the spot is growing but 2 small holes have developed above the spot (which are hard to see in the picture, but they we not there yesterday)

Do i remove the leaf?
Treat for bugs?
Treat for fungus?
Leave it alone?

Great forum by the way, I really enjoyed reading through the posts, I have learned a lot already.

Hello and welcome to the OB.
The brown spot looks like sunburn, the leaf will be ugly for awhile, but just leave it be. The "notch" on the newer leaf looks like either old bug or mechanical damage. Your plant looks nice and healthy.

You do not need to do anything for sunburn other than be sure to keep it in a cooler area usually by moving it to lower light levels.

The chlorophyll is dead in that portion of the leaf but there is much good leaf left.

Unfortunately the dead chlorophyll in the leaf will never recover and the spot is permanent.

Thanks so much!

The spot was there when I purchased the plant, I tried googling different pictures but could not figure out exactly what the spot was.

Glad to hear its only sun damage.

I was kind of in a panic reading about all the different bugs and fungus that orchids can get.

Thanks
