Current orchid Problems.

Hello guys! Sadly i am having orchid problems. Two of them are not fatal looking but one is getting close to dying. Here they are:

I have a Colmanara Wildcat small brown dots on the new growth leaves. I think it has stopped now scince it only has it on the top 4 cm of the leaves but i would just like to take percautions. What is this and how do i fix it?


2.I have a Odontoglossum hallii that has been growing extreamly well for considering it is a odontoglossum species. I got it this febuary and one new growth is fully developed and ive got another one coming. But there is one slight problem. I can see that the other older growths had it too. There is also brown dots all over the leaves it dosent seem to affect the plant but i dont like the look of it. Again what is it and how do i fix it?


3.I have 3 Miltonia HYBRIDS that i am really on the verge of losing. Before i left they seemed happy with green growth and the older leaves yellowing. But now apperently all the leaves started yellowing and falling off. The new growth is soft and breakcable, almost transparent in some places. Bearly has any good leaves exeppt for one which seems to be doing much better than the other two. I think that one is still good.

I would like to know how you are tending these plants, how often watering, feeding, if you have them in too much sun, and are you misting the leaves? I can't make out anything in the last pic. Sorry. But please give us a head's up on how you care for them. We will try and pinpoint what might be happening.

Ok then, they are not in full sun and i am not misting the leaves. I water about once a week depending on how humid it is. I always water in the morning. they start getting sunlight at about 9:30 in the morning and it ends at around 2:00 in the afternoon. The rest of the day is just light but not direct sunlight. The sunlight is always difused by thin curtains. I keep the windows next to them open so there is good fresh air current. I hope this helps.

Wow, I don't know really. I suspected the first pic to too much sunlight. You have sheer curtains, which is good. I'm noticing the sun shifting these days and it's too strong now in places where it wasn't before. I've had to move mine around to make adjustments to prevent burned leaf tips. As far as the Miltonia, I keep mine fairly moist during their growing season. Otherwise, I get crinkled leaves. Perhaps someone with more knowledge can help you with this.

Hello, Kiki may be correct on the too much sunlight, but I think you have other things going on there. The miltonia looks to need a repot into fresh mix. When's the last time you repotted? If the colmanara mix looks like that, you may want to repot that also.
I don't know anything about miltonia, but I grow my colmanara in pretty much the same way as you as far as light goes. In the spring and summer however, I water them at least twice a week, and if it rains I stick them outside to get a good soaking.

If they were mine, I'd repot them into fresh mix, while checking the roots and cleaning up any dead roots. With the growing season winding down, I'd be careful about watering, but would probably give them more than you are.

Thank you! Yeah i took kikis advise and reorginized everything so they woulndt get as much light.

I think i should repott the miltoniasi actually just got them this May.
