Vanilla planifollia help, brown spots on stem

Dear all, I have a Vanilla p with some brown spots on its stem, i think its a fungus. Could you help me with this problem.
Here in Bs As we have cool winter (0 to 14º C) , what can i do to have flowers, do i have to grow it inside?.

I think Vanilla has to be about 10' long, and hang down from something, in order to bloom....or so I've read. It's hard to tell in this pic, but those marks on the stalk look kind of like old injuries.
