Black spots/rings, fungus on Zygopetalum?
Default Black spots/rings, fungus on Zygopetalum?

I received this Zygo. Has black spots and in some places halo-like spots. I understand it is a fungus, is it curable, stoppable or will the plant be a goner? The new growth appears well!

I empirically sprayed it with fungicide.

Thanks guys!

It looks like an insect walked along the plant taking bites. If it doesn't spread I wouldn't be alarmed. Zygos like cool temperatures, high humidity, good air circulation and water low in dissolved minerals.

Plus, a Zigo without spots isn't a Zigo...well, there are exceptions.

Took close ups, some leaves look really bad. Posting front and back pictures.

Thanks!

Mine looks like that and it has it's own fan, good humidity, and lots of water. They are prone to spotting.

My only Zigo had spots in the past but it has none.
Solution was to put it outdoors in the cold and rain...and lots of wind.

A speaker at our orchid society said 70 F / 20C is warm for most Zygos, and that you can prevent spots by keeping them below that and using very pure water.
