Is this fusarium?
Default Is this fusarium?

Is this fusarium on my Phal? It's growing a new leaf and is a healthy plant but I just saw a thread on fusarium and it made me think of this. Thanks for your help!

This is not fusarium. This is normal purple coloration on the underside of a Phal. I have never seen fusarium on a phal and I don't expect I will ever see it. It's rare.

YouTube is your enemy if you are trying to learn to grow orchids.

I actually didn't see it from YouTube. I saw a thread on Reddit where someone posted a photo of their Phal with a red ring around a new growth. A lot of people on Reddit were thinking it was fusarium but glad I checked here! Thank you for your replies! This is my only orchid that has ever rebloomed for me so I would have been quite devastated if it this was it's demise.

It's not fusarium.

it's anthocyanin.

I'm glad to hear that, and apologize for my assumption.

One of the issues with most online "experts" these days is that they actually have no experience, but "saw it online" so think it's gospel, then have no issue sharing that info, whether it is correct or not. Fortunately, there are a few forums that have participants who DO have experience, this being one.
