I think the rest of the buds should be alright as they look quite far along. That is one impressively large Angraecum sesquipedale. Good luck with it!

I agree with the others that environmental change probably caused the bud blast. For the record, this plant can actually tolerate much lower temperatures than rbarata suggests... I grow mine outside in coastal southern California, and only move it into the house or greenhouse when night temperatures go below 40 deg F or so! And it blooms. Perhaps not as well as it would if kept warmer, but it has acclimated and is quite forgiving. That's about the time (December-ish) when it is spiking, so protecting developing buds, more than temperature for the plant, motivates me to find space for it in the greenhouse or house. Another factor with regard to the bud blast... in Hawaii, with mild temperatures and tropical day length all year, these may be happy to bloom at any time. I find that mine typically does its thing in December/January/February. So it also may be a bit out of season for the day length in your latitude.

SaraJean,

70%-80% humidity is in my house . I am blessed with a huge (and I mean HUGE!) windowsill -- kudos to the developers in the 80s! Some of my neighbors use it as a bed . It`s about 3 meters long and 1.5 meters wide, so the entire surface is in humidity trays and I have two humidifiers running all the time + small water fountain, so this helps a lot.

Thanks, Leafmite!

I do hope at least one bud develops... Wish I were in Hawaii, though.

SaraJean is right, we had snow in April and this weekend will be in the low 40s...
