I started to repot this poor phal last night and it didn't look good. She is limp, small and only has 4 roots. There is a small air root. The stalk was all dryed out, like crispy. I cut away all the dead root and the stalk, as far up to the good roots as i could. The four roots she has are hard not mushy but they don't look good either. They are mostly green but a little yellow. The roots also have elongated white bumps on them and each root is brown and black at the end of it. The roots do also have black and brown soots on them. The bottom two leaves are all twisted around and very small. They get bigger going up the stalk, a large followed by two more little ones. Also, last night when I unootted her there was a white powdery substance all over the root system. Mold maybe? Not mealey bugs either. After rinsing the roots and taking a closer look there does not seem to be anything visibly moving...can anybody help me?

Those roots look healthier than many of the minis I exposed & it also looks as though a new root is forming, I would pot it up IMO; somebody else here might have more opinions on the problems you have mentioned though hang tough

The roots that are left look ok. Just as a note, root color is not an indicator of root health. The parts exposed to light will be green, and those are are deeper in the pot are yellow from not being exposed to light. The rule of thumb is that if a root is firm to the touch, it's healthy. If there are breaks in the velamen (thick outer coating that most think is the actual root fiber) that's fine too, it's still a functional root.

I don't see anything which is cause for concern, and the whitish stuff may have been fungus (maybe from it being too wet?)

Pot it up in the smallest pot it will comfortably fit in, and keep it in a warm spot, not too bright. With time that nice looking new root will grow down into the media.

And just to let you know, I deleted the other thread that you started.
