Rth. Burana Beauty with leaf problem!
Default Rth. Burana Beauty with leaf problem!

I bought this plant about a month ago at a big-box store. It had flowers on one pseudobulbs and buds on the other. The buds on taller pseudobulb blasted but I didn't think much of it. Yesterday I noticed a strange dark indented pattern on the top of the leaves of the same pseudobulb that had the Bud blast. If anyone has ideas on what this is I would really appreciate it. Meanwhile I've quarantine the plant away from the rest of my collection.

I finally figured out how to add a link to the pictures to the original post. Very hopeful that someone can help me and this isn't what I think it might be🤞

Looks like it's probably sunburn. Situate the plant so that it gets less direct sun on the leaves, but other than that, there's nothing you can or should do. It doesn't look pretty, but it won't cause any further harm to the plant.

*Edit* I said that, and then I looked at it again, and I'm not so sure. I guess first I should have asked if the plants gets a lot of direct sun, and what time of day. It wouldn't hurt to cut the affected part of the leaf off with a clean blade and dust the cut edge with cinnamon.

It doesn't get a lot of direct sun it is usually in a south facing window but behind a blind and about a foot back from the window. I did put a grow light near it and I was thinking that it might have burnt it but I don't know. I have since moved it into my kitchen where it sits on my table about 4 feet for my east facing window. I will probably leave it there until I have a better idea of what's going on with it. At first I thought it could be a virus but it's only on the top of the two leaves on the one pseudobulb.

It certainly is possible that the grow light burned it. It looks like it could be sunburn, but after I looked it a second time, I wasn't as certain as I thought I was at first lol. One of the reasons I doubted my original diagnosis was because this time of year, it would be strange for a plant to get sunburned, but a light could have done it, if it was too close. It certainly won't get burned any further in an east window, but that probably won't be enough light for it to be really happy.

But still, unless you are certain that it is sunburn, I would advise cutting the affected part off, just in case it is bacterial or something that could spread. It doesn't look like virus, so I don't think you need to worry about that. You could also take a wait and see approach and see if it spreads further.

Thank you so much for all of the advice I think I'm going to give it a couple of days to see if it spreads at all or changes before cutting leave but I was kind of leaning towards cutting Leaf myself.
