Phalaenopsis-Back From The Dead
Default Phalaenopsis-Back From The Dead

This Phal had seen better days. After having moved house this Phal had pretty much been left to the side in the new garden for many a month until I had finally settled in and had the time to start taking care of garden matters. Needless to say, many of my orchids never made it and had pretty much turned to dry stalks. This one still had brown/green looking roots, but in my opinion was in its last stages of drying out. Resisting the urge to just chuck it and move on, I decided to see if I really had green fingers at all. I surprised myself, I've killed many plants by over watering, under watering, over fertilizing, under fertilizing, etc etc etc.

So I strapped the orchid to a tree in my garden that has a lot of moss growing on it. I figured this tree would be its best chance. After 2 months of watering, worm tea and fertilizer.......

I'm happy to report that a day ago It has shown a twinkle of life.

Just goes to show. Plants belong outside and in their natural state. Pots, not so much.

I don't know your climate but putting on a tree seems to be a good choice.
