'Tiger' pattern on phal roots, virus? Female
Default 'Tiger' pattern on phal roots, virus?

I just bought this phal and noticed one of the roots with this pattern. I've never seen it before. Does anyone know what it indicates?

The truth is, you can't really accurately determine if a plant is virused or not based on visual assessment. However, one of the more common signs is streaking patterns and color breaks in the flowers (keeping in mind that streaks and breaks happen for many reasons other than viruses as well) or very distinct rings or die off patterns in the leaves. Sometimes virused plants show little or no signs of infection, and many of the common symptoms of virus are similar to those caused by other types of problems (nutritional, pests, no-viral disease).

But the long and the short is, what you're showing in your photo looks normal to me, and while it's not the best quality photo, and I'm not a qualified expert, I don't think there's any issue with the roots -- let alone virus.
