Hi all, I am orchid-sitting for a friend, and when I went for the first time Saturday I discovered a nasty mealybug infestation. They have been battling it with alcohol, but now that I'm only going to be looking in every two weeks, I think we need a systemic. But there are so many different formulations of Bayer! Which one should I order for houseplants? I am crazy busy this month and need to order on Amazon. Thanks to anyone who can tell me which one to get!

We don't get it in Canada but I believe it is Bayer 3 in 1 and I think it might say something about for roses. But the effective ingredient is imidacloprid. So that would be the one you need. Apparently Dendrobiums don't like it or so I have heard, so maybe proceed with caution if they have any of those.

Thank you so much! Noted about the den. They only have one and it is upstairs away from the outbreak.

Yes, Bayer 3 in 1. It works great and is available most anywhere that has general lawn and garden supplies. I hadn't heard that dens don't like it and have used it on mine for several months to get rid of some nasties.

Dens may be OK. I have just heard it more than once and it may be some other ingredient in the systemic we get here in Canada (Merit) rather than the actual imidacloprid part of it. But I know several people who have used our product on Dens and it wasn't a happy ending!

Yes thank you! This is exciting. I have never had mealies and I was a bit horrified when I saw them. They are HUGE! But soon they will be DEAD!

I have used their once-a-year tree and shrub formula (~1.4% imidicloprid) at 1:128 with no issues with any plant.

Be careful of what you buy - some have fertilizer, some have fungicides, some have all of the above. I like the tree & shrub stuff as that's the only active ingredient.
