A hole in my pseudobulb and a mold on my leaf- oncidium twinkle Female
Default sorry, I am having issues with attaching photos from mobile and will reposts tonight

Hey everyone!

I left my orchids with a family member while on a 2-week vacation. She did a great job, and most orchids are doing great.

My newest, which is fragrant and looks like an oncidium twinkle or similar is having an issue. I bought it about 4 days before I left, so my family member is probably not to blame for these issues. I attached pictures of each problem.

1 One of the pseudobulbs on the plant has a 3mm hole in it! Yikes! It is black and just looks so devious. What could it be? Since the pseudobulb in question is adjacent to one that just finished blooming, I am thinking of just twisting them off the plant and being rid of them, rather than allowing a disease to spread to the rest of the plant.

2- on a new growth, I noticed the very center leaf was moldy. Could a drop of water have gotten into it? I pulled it out and there seems to be no further damage, so I will just spray it with fungicide once I get all my babies home.

So, what do I do with this plant? What do you think is wrong with it? Thanks!!

P.s. The last photo is the blooms on the other half of the plant. It had 11 or so pseudobulbs so I decided to split it and allow easier access to all parts of the plant. I provided it for ID purposes

Wow, that's quite a large twinkle... Done see your first two pictures and I'm no expert but i have a twinkle too (much smaller though) that also had a hole in one of the pbulbs...the oldest one. It wasn't squishy or anything so i just left it. Seemed to do alright... Maybe if i was able to see the other 2 pics if be able to help more... Sorry.

I too only see one (the last) photo ...

Hole in the pbulb could be from some critter, if it doesn't worsen, it's probably not going to be a problem - you can use some cinnamon or hydrogen peroxide in the wound to help prevent rot.

I have never gotten mold on living foliage ...(I believe it feeds on dead tissue ?) when water has become trapped in new growth during cool temps, the inner foliage browns or blackens, and dies. Make sure the "mold" isn't actually mealy bugs - or silk from mealy bugs, caterpillars, spiders ...
