Hi all, I'm new here and I've only recently taken an interest in orchids. It's unfortunate that my first post is about a problem but I really need some advice.

I have an Ascocenda Roslyn's Best that I got only a couple of months ago and have been keeping it in a glass vase. It looked like it was holding up pretty well until I took a look at it today. Apparently the sun was a little stronger yesterday and the plant got pretty badly burned. The burn is at the very center of the orchid and I'm not sure what to do. I can't cut off the damaged part because it's almost the entire plant.

I moved it into the kitchen away from the light but don't know what to do now.

I'm attaching a picture of it so you all can see.

Any help is appreciated, thank you!

The burn is just small....maybe two to three leaves are affected....the five upper leaves are good and well; that is the next placement of spikes in its next blooming cycle(just above the dark spotted uppermost leaf) the old spike is on the opposite damaged leaf....and above that is the good leaf where the next spike will come from....
invest in a sheer curtain so you can put the plant back to where it was used to

I burned my vanda under a plant light last spring. It still bloomed, but hasn't bloomed since. It normally blooms again and again. The top leaves look fine, so like you, I'll just have to wait it out.

So a few of the leaves have started to fall off, here is a picture of it today. It's definitely still absorbing water from the roots but I have a feeling it will take a while to recover from this.

It is pretty sad looking. I imagine it will take quite a while to recover. It has to grow new leaves. My little ones that I burned have blackened leaves but are now getting new leaves at the top as the old ones drop off.

No, look at the plant. It's not just three leaves that show black spots that are burned.
The entire thing is cooked! See the yellowing of most of the plant body, leaving only portion of the leaves green.
This is severe case next to my burning cattleya leaves last year. It turned black and dried up in just a few hours under a lamp. The heat was rather intense I guess. lol

Well, it will take a while to recover.
Keep us posted.

So I have another update, at this point all of the leaves have fallen off and it is the saddest sight in the world.

Like I said before, I'm a newbie so this might sound like a dumb question, but how do I know if this plant is still alive? Most of the roots are still green, is there any chance of this poor thing recuperating or should I just give up?

I'm attaching an image so you guys can see.
