Default need a good cat deterrent for outside

My cat keeps knocking my orchids over or dislodges them from their pots by rubbing her face against them.

I need a good deterrent to place on the ground to surround them. Any suggestions?

Scat Mats, Pepper wax spray if they getting chewed on. Crumpled Aluminium foil works for some cats. The back side of a automotive floor mat (with the little prickilies) If you are home, I found that a water gun works well. A couple of good squirts an my cat learned it isn't worth it. Of course, I never could keep him out of my hibicus though (only managed to keep him from my orchids), no matter what I tried. My cat is not an ordinary cat though. The dogs are all afraid of him (except the Mastiff puppy, but she's not really afraid of anything). Also my cat can open doors if they are not locked. (yes he can turn doorknobs)

I use scat mats and the "stay away," they're made by the same company which I think used to be contech so you may still find them under that name. It's a battery operated motion detector with that emits a beep and spray of air when the cat triggers it. I've found it to be very effective for my two cats.

Re water sprays: if you use this method, don't let the cat see you using it. Otherwise they may associate it with you rather than going near the plants. Result: they avoid you and go near the plants when you aren't there!

That's exactly why the motion detector has been so effective for me. Set it and go

I think she wants to keep HER OWN cats from rubbing on her orchids, not get a dog to dig them up too...

Another tactic: since your cat is scent marking, provide them with something else prominant to rub on. Eg put some stakes around the pot.
