Browning stems on Paphiopedilum-please help :( Female
Default Browning stems on Paphiopedilum-please help :(

In August or September I bought from our local store,a healthy and pretty blooming Paph.
By that time there were 2 mature plants and a little baby growing.
After the flowers wilted everything seemed to be fine but at the end of November one of the mature plant appeared to be mushy at the bottom and reddish brown...
I thought it happend because I had accidentally watered the crown...but after another 2 months I've just noticed that the little baby plant is brownish all of the sudden!!!
Everything had happened over the night, yesterday looked fine but next morning was dying...very frustating!!

What should I do next to save the last mature plant(mother)???

Thank you for all your help,
Floare Exotica

It looks like erwina. It strikes quickly and can spread thru the plant like wildfire. What I do is drench the affected area with hydrogen peroxide. Then I make a paste of alcohol and cinnamon and spread it over and in the affected areas. The brown parts of the plant are already goners, what you are now trying to do is stop the spread.
If treated soon enough you can save the plant, but it's quite a setback. I just had it happen last month to a Saint Swithin that probably would have bloomed this year. It's very disheartening when it strikes.

Doesn't alcohool and peroxide will harm the roots?
Just wondering(I'm a beginner).

The hydrogen peroxide won't bother the roots at all. If you hold the plant at an angle and gently pour the peroxide on to the affected areas, you can catch the drain off in another bowl and pour it over the plant again. The paste is only used on the affected leaf area, not on the roots. You're right about alcohol not being good for roots.
You can do this with the plant still in the pot.
