What's happening to my Phals!!!!!
So several weeks ago I took all the chids outside onto the deck for the summer to clean the greenhouse of my algae problem. That worked out very well and all the chids were very happy in the shade of my oak tree or so I thought. I expected some problems because of the debris that falls out of trees, etc., but things were just fine. Then the past several days I noticed crown rot on one plant... then a spot on a leave and then another spot and another crown and.... I have been diligent about removing water from the crown and keeping them clean and since they were outside I have sprayed with Physan 20 more frequently as a preventative measure. Now I'm onto surgery, cinnamon and hydrogen peroxide and still am having a leaf problem. I assume this is bacterial and not fungal. Some thoughts/help, please.

Did you get some sap dripping from the tree?? Are you sure they didn't get some sun?

I've had mine out under trees before and never had that happen! WOW! So sorry to see that! Hope someone can help you with this!

How about pets, neighbors' sprinklers, kids, grand kids, wife?
One of my neighbor's sprinklers went balistic one day while I was at work and the water almost ruined two of my phals. And my dog has tipped over a few of my orchids while on his lizard and/or squirrel hunts.

That's horrific looking. Such a pity. The neighbors oak trees partially overhang my shade house but I've never had any damage like that. Do you think the the condition could have been initiated by insect damage?

Hi Howard , Could it be sunburn ? even under the oak tree it can happen. I had to move mine outside when we insulated the room ,they were on the north side of the house in the shade I thought, it only took a short time out there for damage to happen . Sorry about the trouble |

Howard it may be systemic, and no amount of spraying will help. I would try a systemic batericide along with foliar spray.
I'm currently doing battle with some cruddy micro fungus that has run amuk in my Phals. I'm doing the above but with a systemic fungicide. I may have it under control as it hasn't gotten any worse. I still may lose one.
