Default What's wrong with this orchid?

Does anyone know what's wrong with this orchid? There were 16 buds on this plant and all of them have stems that look like this. About half the buds fell off before opening. The bud and stem started off looking normal but as the bud grew the stem would turn dark and eventually erupt into three lesions like this on each stem. It's very ominous. I am not sure whether to get rid of this orchid or treat it with something. I would appreciate any help because I've never seen anything like it. Thanks.

I've never seen anything like that either. Looks like there could be something pupating in there.

It looks like a systemic fungal infection.
I would imagine it difficult to get out of the plant but...
You could try treatment with Cleary 3336.
I'd weigh the effort in saving it vs. the potential of infecting other plants in my collection etc.

Thanks for your help. It looks fungal to me also but since it seemed to come from inside the stem I was confused. The orchid itself looks very healthy and almost doubled in size this year. I don't have a place to isolate it so I think it's going to get thrown out.

Thanks. That's probably the best bet. I'm a member in the Plantation Orchid Society and the speaker Tuesday is a commercial grower with a Phd. He'd just the guy to ask.
