Leaf damage and bud drop...please help Male
Exclamation Leaf damage and bud drop...please help

Received this Den. last week. It is now losing buds and the leaves have started to yellow and what looks to be rotting. Could it be from leaving it in the car while we had lunch the day I got it??? It appears to have good roots (even though they are green). They are hard and seem healthy. I'm almost considering cutting the spike so it can focus on getting healthy. I've included some pics if anyone can help me. Thanks!!!

I'm not really an expert on this, but if it got hot in the car it is possible it is suffering from heat damage.

I would also comment that the medium looks very compacted. I would be worried that the roots are not getting enough air and even if they are fine now could rot quite soon.

I'm going to repot with fresh bark as soon as it is done blooming. heck, I might even do it today just to save the plant.

Save plant now=no blooms=blooms later
VS.
blooms now=no plant later

That's a hard one to decide.

I can't help you with the deciscion but I alwayws try to save the plant. If that means I have to repot, I'll repot and even cut the spike so that the plant can put all his energy in growing a new cane and roots... The better the blooms will be next time.

Thanks Nicole. I was trying to be sarcastic. I'm definitely going to repot and leave the spikes be for now. Who knows... they might not drop all the buds. We'll see. Thank you ladies!!

Fingers crossed for your plant, maybe the leafloss, bud drop is from dehydration/bad roots.... Hope you don't find a disaster in the pot's center.
