Leaves with brown spots. brown stem. no flowers, help!
Default Leaves with brown spots. brown stem. no flowers, help!

This orchid had flowers up until a few weeks ago. We got it from my grandmother, and found out that it was SOAKED in the roots, with at least an inch of water at the bottom of the pot. It has since been draining, but I'm not sure what to do (if anything) to save the flower. The stem has turned brown and the leaves have these little brown spots on them, some all the way through the leaf.

If there's anything that can be done to save this orchid, please let me know.

I've attached a few pictures of the orchid below.

Thanks

Welcome to the Orchid Board. Your phal looks pretty good from your pictures. The flower stalk is done so you need to cut it off. The leaves look like they have had standing water on them and maybe a bit of mechanical damage. Have you checked the roots? What type of pot is it planted in and what type of potting medium are you using?

I agree with Joann.

The spike is dead, that's normal when it has finished flowering and nothng to worry about.

The leaves look like they have had mechanical and maybe water damage and look healthy otherwise.

If it has been left standing in water for long periods I think it would be a good idea to check the roots. While your leaves look OK just now, if the roots have rotted in the water then the leaves will start to decline soon, it is better to find out about root rot sooner rather than later.

The roots should be firm. If they are soft and mushy then they have rotted. Remove any rotten ones and see what you have left.
