I us Endall in concentrate form....just mix it in a spray bottle with some warm water and a little bit of soap. It has canola oil in it so it gets underneath their protective shells!! It works pretty good. Some people in our society also use Neem Oil but the stuff is stinky and very sticky. It does work though.

Maria, you can pick up Endall at Home Depot or most garden centres.

Is end all a pesticide or some type of natural pesticide free oil?

Hmmmm, Marty I'm not sure....it's in a yellow bottle and you can use it for houseplants I believe. It's not really all that toxic I think and doesn't really smell either, which is what I like.

I have been using rubbing alcohol also but it doesn't work nearly as well for the scale. They are sure nasty to get rid of.

I will check the bottle when I get home and get back to you.....

End-All is a contact insecticide with 0.5% Pyrethrins. It claims to control all stages of aphids, spider mites, whitefly, and spittle bugs. It will also kill adult and nymph stages of thrips, flea beetles, caterpillars, mealybugs, scale insects and sugar ants.

Theresa, do you find the addition of soap is required with End-All? How much do you use. Can any dish soap be used? I have tried Neem oil and used Ivory dish soap - it seems like a mild soap.

The guys in our society who grow lots of plans recommended a few drops of soap so that the oil doesn't stick to the plants....I have noticed that it leaves a film on the plants if you don't use the soap. It's a little sticky too! I think any soap is okay since it is such a small amount.

Hi:

I'm not one for heavy duty pesticides...

Get some Sun oil. Spray the plant with it (as directed) for 2-3 weeks in a row. If it doesn't go away....throw the plant away.

You can find Sun oil or it's equivelent at OFE in Miami, or Chula Orchids online.

Frank's right about horticultural oils being good for a lot of stuff. I just use ordinary cooking oil, adding two tablespoons (plus an equal amount of liquid soap as an emulsifier) per gallon of water.

Be sure to spray early in the morning when the plants have received no solar heating, or damage may occur. Spikes & buds are particularly susceptible if warm.
