Does my Orchid have Thrips?
Default Does my Orchid have Thrips?

Hello everyone!
I have an Orchid and I noticed a very small clump of rice grain like things on the top side of the leaf. I removed this with 70% alcohol. I then noticed when soaking the plant there were some tiny very quick moving (either can fly or jump very quickly) bugs. Im thinking Thrips? They had long bodies and light in colour. I sprayed the plant in bug spray and removed any close by plants.
The orchid itself seems happy and is currently in bloom. I don't want anything to affect it!
Does anyone have any ideas what this could be? I was thinking of doing a insecticide soak? Would this be a good idea to get the bugs in the soil?
Thank you in advance

Thrips do have long bodies. It is likely all your other plants have them as well. They lay eggs in leaf litter and in potting media. Others will suggest treatment options.
