New roots are beautiful! And their appearance says "potting time" ... Best time is when those new roots first appear, since likely there will be more coming... some damage to a root tip or two during repotting is inevitable, but with more on the way, the plant will establish easily in the fresh medium.

And the next update: so far, after the treatments, I have seen 0 mealybugs or evidence of mealybugs. It’s been 1.5 months since the last treatment. Since then I have used kelpak and quantum-total to help rebalance probiotics and lightly fertilize for food. Most plants have come back strong. A few have come back, but not as strong.

Then there’s my Dendrobium tanii (bracteosum). Being newer to orchids, a local club member encouraged me to enter my plant into a local orchid show. She encouraged me to try. And, frankly, I have been needing to feel a little orchid success. And I won a ribbon! Apparently if I had trimmed some of the leaves to allow the flowers to be easier to see, I would’ve placed higher. Still….

So, if anyone is reading, there’s some lessons from this: 1) persistence; 2) ask questions and follow good advice; 3) plants are amazing and want to live and thrive; 4) there’s some on this board who are incredibly helpful. Be sure to thank them.

Thank you!

Thank you, estación, you’ve been a big help!

There’s hope!

And I feel very encouraged. Plus, I appreciate the opportunity to show my teenaged daughter the power of taking a risk, being diligent and patient, and asking questions.
