red little bugs in the media of my recent paph shipment. Male
Default red little bugs in the media of my recent paph shipment.

I bought this paph leucochilum from paph paradise last week and as soon as I opened the box, I found several of these little creatures crawling around the pot.
At first I thought they were springtails (which I wouldn't mind,) but at closer inspection, they were more reddish than any of the springtails I've seen.
I contacted nursery to find out if they can help me identify it, figure I have not gotten any reply even though they replied to me instantly when I requested for availability the day before the purchase.
I messaged I wasn't asking for a refund, but I think they still misunderstood my message that I am just taking precaution before I add the paph into the tent. :

They are so small my camera cannot capture them properly

I wouldn't worry about it.

Alright, I'll watch it carefully for now. I have ordered from them before, and I want to trust them.

actually think I've confirmed what they are and why there're so many spring tail in the pot. I'm not really sure how much root has gone inside.

Springtails are very varied, there can be orange springtails (Entomobrya atrocincta) green springtails (Sminthurus viridis) maroon (Dicyrtoma fusca) yellow (Hymenaphorura cocklei) neon red (Caledonimeria mirabilis) covid or something (Holacanthella paucispinosa) zebra (Entomobrya superba) and glitter ( Lepidocyrtus sp).

No matter the species springtails are annoying at the worst and a great asset at best, they eat mold and decomposing matter. I have never heard of plants being affected by springtails, only the rot or mold that fuels their population. Definity check out those roots and give it some new medium.
