Default Brown pitting on Phal leaves

I've had this Phal schillieriana since last fall, and in april I started seeing some brown marks on the leaves, which have since progressed to deep ugly, dry, brown/black pitting. The plant is separate from the others, and I'm at loss as to what I can do to stop this disease.

I've never had something like this before, so not sure what it is. Given as it's slow spreading and a dry rot, would it more likely be fungal?

Looks like phalaenopsis mite damage to me.

AKA false spider mites or two-spotted mites.

No mites, I'm quite certain of that. I checked the plant quite carefully several times since the problems started and never saw anything. I do have a low level mealy bug infestation in my collection (that I can't fully get rid of and have been managing for years), but this plant only had a couple and this damage looks far different that what mealies usually can do to my Phals.

For cases like that ------ could even consider a copper spray (to cover fungal and/or bacterial). I would initially have taken a guess of possible mite issue too.
