Default ? Active false mites vs old scarring from prior infestation

Hi everybody,
I'm fairly new to the orchid hobby...
I recently ordered a phal online and found some irregular indentations and hypopigmentation to the underside of its leave.

I did some research and it appears might have caused by false mites... but how can we tell if this is caused by an active infestation vs and old scarring....?

I read that false mites are too small to be detected by our eyes. I feel as though I have no way of knowing.

Does anybody have any insight?

Thanks

The mites would still be visible, just very tiny. Some will also produce webbing. You can use a hand lens to get a closer look at the damage and any mites that may be present.

Thanks Aliceinwl
I think my best way of knowing is getting a magnifying glass at this point. I read that false mites can be 0.3mm(!!) That's so small... comparing to the spider mites...
