Small black specks (lesions?) on phalaenopsis
Default Small black specks (lesions?) on phalaenopsis

Hey! First post here...I have several phalaenopsis in my workspace, and have had them all for months (no new plants recently). Today I noticed that one of them has several small black specks at the base of 2 of its leaves. The biggest spot is elongated and slightly raised, like a lesion. Plant otherwise looks happy and healthy. None of the other orchids have spots, and all seem healthy. I can't tell if it's a fungus, a bacteria, or just a bit of damage. I have moved it away from the other plants just in case. Help? Thanks for any ideas!

My guess would be damage; maybe feeding damage from an insect. Iíd keep an eye on them but if you donít see signs of them spreading or expanding, I wouldnít worry. You might also give your plants a look over for a stray leaf hopper. Iíve had these produce similar damage on mine when they get trapped in the house and turn to my orchids in desperation.
