Crackpots - has anyone seen/used these?

Hey all, Was just surfing for orchid supplies and came across this website...anyone seen or used these "Crackpots" before?

They look pretty cute, and I like the idea that they're unbreakable, plus they come in 8 cool colours!!

Any thoughts?

Those look really cool! I have terracotta ones like this that I got from Kew - they also come glazed in pretty colours. They are amazingly fast draining, and if they weren't so expensive I'd have all of my orchids in them.

I say, go for it!

Oh yours sound really nice!! What is Kew?
I've just left mine in the pots they came in, and put them in various ceramic pots so they don't look too bad

I do wonder how heavy these pots are....some of my chids would tip over if the pots aren't heavy enough..

Kew is one the best Botanical Gardens here. They do a lot of work with orchids.

I'll try and get a photo of one of mine. Yes, I like them because I can put tall plants in them and NOT have them tip over. I do like those plastic ones, though!! They say they are as thick as the terracotta ones, which means 1/4 inch of plastic, so they wouldn't (shouldn't) be as light as a regular plastic pot.

PS. I slip mine into the decorative pots too. I was able to find some fairly tall ones that are designed so that the pot doesn't sit on the bottom in water - that way, I can safely put them back in place after watering without worrying too much about them draining completely.

Ahhh very cool.....I might order a couple to see what they are like and if they are nice and work well, maybe order some more........I wonder how easily you can see the roots through them? Maybe on the white ones, but the other colours? Probably not....

Its not silly at all!! I think it was Dorothy herself who had the signature quote "The only silly question is the one that you DON'T ask!"

I think a cache pot is the decorative pot that you use to disguise a plants real pot. So all of those pretty decorative ceramic things that we slip our orchids (in their plastic pots) into are called cache pots.

Shak has it right on - it's used as a decorative pot - just slip your pot in and wah laaa!
