Default Are we ready for a new forum?

I was thinking, that there have been lots of questions and thoughts about growing under lights, both with Orchidariums and in general. Are we ready for a new forum specific to lighting? If we agree (presuming that's the case) then one of the mods should be ready to move all the threads having to do with lighting to that forum area. That responsibility may squeltch this. Who knows? Just thought I'd propose it and see where it goes. I just think it would be easier to send someone to a specific forum area than to have to search for all the threads that delt with lighting (I remember lots of them.)

I don't do most Dendros or large, "floofy orchids". For me it's minis (like Angraecoides), Masdies, Paphs, and others that crept in somewhere along the line. See my orchid list for complete collection (usually not current.)

Ross, I think it might make more sense to have a general 'Technical Details' section as lighting questions seem inextricably linked with things like ventilation and temperature and how to control those.

But then, I thought that was what this section was for? Maybe it is just a case of threads being in the wrong place - all spread out. Unfortunately, this often comes up as a topic after the thread has been posted (appropriately) elsewhere.

I agree it would be helpful to be able to point people to a specific forum area (to at least narrow down their search).

Two other things to throw out there - not sure if it is technically possible? 1) Have 'ready made' searches to help people - like the 'new posts' search. Many people could view this just as another forum section and not even realise that it is a search. 2) For that to be effective, it would probably help if more threads were rated by people who are knowledgeable in the topic area, and then the search was displayed in descending order by rating. That way, people were shown the most helpful info at the top.

Just my 2 cents....
