When all our equipment comes in, I'll let you know how we're doing the wiring...hopefully photos included!

We were even talking about going to Goodwill to find an old humidifier, just to "canibalize" the thermostat for cheap (many we were finding were for hundreds of dollars and we didn't want to spend that much)...strip the wires on the part we wanted (just the thermostat) and pitch the rest.
Here's a couple of sites (if I can get them to work!) ...I'm sure you'd find some if you googled it.
Whew, the things we do for our 'chids!

Fren you can wire up a mini [you mean muffin/aka computer fan?] fan very easily, it's the thermostat that I have no clue about.

With the [mini/muffin/computer] fan it will have two or more cords coming off it probably going to a plug that
you plug into your computer.

They will be black, red & yellow. Buy a 12v adaptor that is used to power small electrical items and cut off the plug that goes into the item [not the one that plugs into the power point! ] you will see it two should be divided into 2 cords a black one and a red one.

Match the colors on the fan to the colors on the adaptor, join them [I have just twisted them together and taped over them or you can buy special little plastic plug/connectors that you insert the wires into and tighten them to hold the wires in place]. place your fan, plug it in [into a timer or straight into the plug as desired] and turn on the power.

If nothing happens you have not matched the cords to the right corresponding color cords- rewire it. I usually
just tape over the extra yellow one if it is there.

The adaptors I use have an adjustable voltage [?] and so can you make the fan go slower or faster..

I can take a photo of it if you like, if it would help?

Whew! Thanks Damian! Oooo, my new 'chids were just shipped from Florida today!
Our thermostats and plexiglass are coming later...had to be custom cut...
I'm so excited! I can't believe I'm finally making a little orchidarium (at the same time that we're putting in a new kitchen none-the-less!)

So true so true! I'll keep them isolated for a little while before they can come "play" with my other 'chids!

UPDATE: I'll post a new thread with pics, hopefully step by step, to hook up muffin fans AND thermostat stuff!

I've used these things for years just added a line & plug to the contact wires. They go day & night over the shelves to keep things moving. The only time they stop is for June ,July ,Aug & most of Sept. when plants are put outdoors.I find they are harder to come by now.
