Default Do it yourself heat

I thought some of the handy dandys out there might like to see this , the frame is angle iron welded together ,sheet metal is screwed on . A 55 gal. barrel inside , one of the barrel kits door ect , and a thermostat and fan .
A pipe to the greenhouse with a damper on it and a register resting on the cement floor the other pipe goes thru the porch into the house , the cold air return goes into the prorch shown in one of the pictures, it has a fan forcing air into it , the thermostat hooked to it is the little box on top of the shell . size is 3 foot high 3 foot wide and 4 foot long . So far it is working well to supply extra heat to take some of the load off the propane $$ .. Gin

So that's wood-fired? I asked a question a while back why that wouldn't work, esp. where hardwoods are plentiful and near-by and hot water heat is used. Still not an economical option for me where I live (in city) but cleary an option for folks living in the country, especially if the already have one of the outdoors wood fired boilers.

I don't do most Dendros or large, "floofy orchids". For me it's minis (like Angraecoides), Masdies, Paphs, and others that crept in somewhere along the line. See my orchid list for complete collection (usually not current.)

Yes it is wood fired ,the heat is circulated between the barrel and the shell then forced out, does not use hot water u can buy the ones that use hot water but they are expensive. Last ones I checked out were around $5,000
