Bit of an update, there's been lots of growth this summer but unfortunately a bit of pest damage as well. Everything seems to be benefiting from the warmth, long hours of daylight, and frequent rains we've been having.

I have way more plants outside this year than I did last as well and they really enjoy the outdoors. We are getting too much rain though! No rot yet... if anything the humidity is very good. I am also trying to find an easy way with fertilizing.

Some new additions:

Stanhopea oculata. Pendant, powerful flowers that smell like peppermint patty? Yes please!

Paphiopedilum callosum. An integral species to the Maudae type slipper orchids.

Bulbophyllum rufinum. Has a long inflorescence that reminds me of a Dendrochilum.

Paphs with half sanderianum genetics, meaning very long petals!

Here's the shade house from outside.

Flies are constantly getting their heads stuck in the shade cloth, where they eventually die and I have to pick them out.

Here are some of my Paphs, on the 85% shade side.

Paph Odette's Vision alongside Paph Magic Lantern for size comparison.

I didn't cut my Phal spikes this year and they have little bumps developing. Could they be growing keikis?

Brassia New Start is exceeding expectations with four new growths. That could really be a show next spring.

Oncidium Sharry Baby 'Velvet Maroon' is a root-growing machine.

My high-tech Vanda watering setup

Beautiful as usual!

Catasetum types are so different in the growing season! This is Mormodia Jumbo World; it will bloom in the winter.

Still waiting on Bulbophyllum echinolabium to push out a spike...Come on, buddy!

Bulbophyllum medusae has added eight new bulbs this year. Looking forward to blooming season coming up in a few months--last year it flowered in mid-November.

Cattleya rex seedlings growing slowly but surely on their hickory bark mount.

Finally, a summer peek inside the sunroom, where some blooming Phals and Paphs can be enjoyed safe from the bugs outside.

Oh man your set-ups all look so great, so many happy orchids! Great growing. I can relate to your issues with bugs this year and I'm up in Michigan, I got some bug & fungal issues...sheesh but they do like it outdoors. Waiting on my 50% shade cloth. Thanks so much for sharing and please continue to keep us posted, surely digging all the pics!!
