Default Orchids outdoors in CO?

Would it be okay to keep my orchids outside in CO during the summer? We are on the front range (Boulder area).

Depending on the orchids you have and your sun/shade there shouldn't be a reason not to grow outside. You may have to water more often.

You are right, when I keep my orchids on outside of my garden with more natural condition, I watering 2 or 3 times per day, because sunshine and temperature are high more.

As I recall, the humidity in CO is fairly low even in the summer and the amount of UV is higher than most places due to your elevation (I remember this from hiking with my stepson in Estes Park, ouch!). I notice at the bottom of your thread you say Paph lover. You'll have to provide them with some sort of protection from the sun and to keep evening or night rans off of them.

I am in Colorado Springs and it's snowing today?! I wanted to leave some orchids out on my balcony but that won't be happening for quite some time. I am happy you posted this MustandSavvy bc this will be the first summer most of my orchids will be outside. Last year I only put one outside and it did well. Can I ask MustangSavvy, have you been to Fantasy Orchid Nursery? How was it? On Mother's Day I plan to visit to get my Mother's Day orchid

Mandy I know I'm not Mustangsavvy, but I have a friend that's a florist in Denver and he say's it's pretty cool there. I am hoping to go visit him next month and we are planing on going there. I can hardly wait. He has given me some nice orchids as when he is done with them he usually tosses them.

I have killed allot of them sadly before I found this forum. I was just talking to him the other day and he was telling me he was going to toss some and I screamed NO not till I get to see them. For some reason the orchid bug has eluded him. But I think finally after all these years he is finally found a few he really likes.

Indeed I will. That reminds me I need to take my camera. I just got an e-mail today and they are going to have a tour this Saturday on different orchids. Also if you buy 2 Phals you get the next one free, species orchids will be 20% off.

Sure do wish I was there this weekend. If I do make it down I will miss you by only 2 days. Have a good time. And yes it is sometimes very fun to have a florist friend. Even though he can he a pain in the ass. He knows this about himself but tells me I keep him grounded.

Ahhh, really...dang. I work nights on the weekends. I won't be able to make it to their sale I will probably go visit them during the week before Mother's Day. Lol your florist friend knows orchid people are the best kind of people 😜 but really I love this community, it's wonderful. Going to the orchid show last month, every single person was sooo helpful and cheerful. It was lovely.
