Hahaha, chairs are on the side, they "can" be used if you need them, but we don't:-) table is serving as a stand for the orchids. Pretty much balcony belongs to my orchids and me, that's it:-) My family thanks God loves orchids, so as far as there is a spot for one chair and they can sit in the middle of orchid jungle, they are happy:-)

I think the worst thing is when you have to move and have a large collection, which I would say your is large. Its hard to replicate the growing conditions and some might not make it, especially the more sensitive ones. When I moved it took me a day to move all my furniture and another week to move my chids and after that about another 2 weeks to do the new set up. Lost a couple of nice chids
I totally hear you Kevin, however since I do own the apartment and have to pay the mortgage, I am not planning to move any time soon. And when we move, it will be only to house with garden, most probaly in Florida, so I think I will manage to keep them alive and I will actually be able to provide better conditions, balcony is way to small to give some of them what they really need:-)

Oh, Kevin, regarding the list, here are few:
Epidendrum Ilense
Potinaria Taichung Beauty Rouge Cattle
Vanda Sansai Blue
Aerangis Punctata
Miltona Moreliana
Paphinia Neudeckeri Rugosa
Grammatophyllum Wallissii
Catasetum Frilly Doris
Kefersteinia Mystacina
Bulbophyllum Moniliforme
And more, I can go and go, there is never finished list for me really:-)

Thanks Island Girl. Clip lights are from amazon, it is LED, you can set up 3 different modes, only one row, 4 rows or all. They do run on batteries, but that's useless, otherwise you work for duracell and have full garage of them, so I got in radioshack the electric cables for 6volts with that small end. They do give pretty good light, and you can position them.

I am very envious of your environment and grow zone.
I think we have the same space in terms of square meters area but your veranda is my fire escape) I wish I can grow my orchids outdoors all year round.

Thanks Bud, yes, it is truly amazing to have all of them outside year round. I could not probably deal with moving them out for the summer and in for the winter, and I know my partner would not allow all of them in our small apartment. So to have this balcony and the climate we do is great. I hate this summer rain season, where you can loose plants easy and quick if you do not protect them from this never ending rain, but I somehow manage that also. Except when Hurricane is passing, I have never ever took any orchids inside, it never gets too cold:-)

Hi Tommy, your area is beautiful, we are blessed to live in Miami and such a beautiful weather, today I went to Tropical Park, I do biking, and there was a farmers sale, every Sat. and a lady was selling orchids, well you know how it is, I got fruits, veggies and orchids, only one vanda, I was good. norma
