Question Shelving for Outdoors

Ok.

My front porch has been taken over by Catts. I've been thinking of buying some adjustable wood shelves from Williams-Sonoma (they can be sealed).

I like them because you can adjust the height of the units, and they are reinforced with metal on the inside.

Has anyone purchased these? If so, would you recommend?

Do you think the plants will get enough light if I put them on the shelves?

Thanks.

Why do you worried about racks. ..I just mount them on tree trunks out side on the garden!!
Just put up a canopy of shade cloth over them .
I am worried about lights. I think we have too much light.
We get 12 hours of undisturbed lights.
But unfortunately too much heat causes leaf problems .
Light, heat and moisture is abundance .

PeeWee

I live in SE FL and grow nearly all my orchids outside.
I bring a few in when they are in bloom, and bring all of them inside if the I am concerned about low temps.

I have purchased wire shelves at Target. The prices are pretty reasonable especially if you get them on sale. They are metal and come in different heights and lengths; They come in Black, White and just plain crome. My first was an old picnic table without the sitting benches that has worked out nicely. In fact it is on my to do list to paint it.

Hope that helps! -- Good Luck

Jacki

Thanks for the suggestion!! My concern is for the look because at least one of these is going to go on the front porch. Not that I'm saying yours don't look nice ( ) but I find that metal looks too modern for me.

I wish I had a bigger yard!

I personally would check flea markets and craigslist, mainly because I am a barganist but also because of the unique things that can be found to fit what I'm looking for.

As to whether or not they will get enough light depends on your lighting situation, unless your primary direction of light source is directly above (north facing patio with transparent covering) I think your catts will get enough light.
