as long as they're dry I wouldn't worry about them till it dips below 32. Growth will definitely slow, but they'll survive if protected from wind. If covering your orchid hotel, I would recommend wetting the ground at night to keep relative humidity up to prevent drying too much.

My big concern with last night was that my chids were at least slightly moist to damp and that it was supposed to be very windy! I left alot outside and covered them with a couple sheets, but all the vandas and most things in spike or in bloom came in too. It was a nice jungle atmosphere. Hopefully this will only last a couple more days though....

Thanks Everyone for helping me and my chids out here in this crapy cold we're having in FL! I hate it!
I pulled the blinds down tonight. But now after seeing the weather report stating 41, plus winds, I'm heading out right now to put on the blankets, tarps, what ever the H I can find!! I didn't think it was going to be this cold!! YUCK!!!

Jackie,

You and I both, woke up frantic today! It was 47 degrees here, took me totally by surprise. I've only taken all of my plants inside once and that was last year when it went down into the 30's for 2 days! Anything, lower than 45 and I start biting my nails.

I don't know if you've got any Bulbo's but tonight, mine are not camping out!

I woke up to 40 today...but the chids are all happy at 52 in their room

I left the Cyms out and they're all looking fine, including the full spike on one of them!

what did the rest of you get?

This morning I woke up to -3°C! COLD!!!

. I think that's about 25°F. And since it had been foggy all night, I had to scrape a thick layer of frozen fog ice off my bicycle before going to class. Not fun. Good thing I brought my Cymbidium and Den. kingianum plants in during the weekend! They were the last ones to come in. The poor things would have frozen solid otherwise.

The official low for the night they all got left out was...

--- 28! Like I said, phals, dends, everything was left out. So far none show any real damage. Incredible.

I took all my Bulbos and Vandas in. I don't know what the temps were last night but when I woke up, it read 50. I never thought so much about weather until I started growing outdoors. I used to walk to school in below freezing temps...in mini skirts without ear muffs...didn't was to mess the hair-do. Now....sweats, sneakers and bundled up once it hits 60.
