Default Zone 6-8 outdoor orchids-

Anyone have any suggestion for some outdoor orchid species for Zone 6-8 (midatlantic/not quite northeast)??

Cypripedium formosanum and Cyp. kentuckiense are good places to start.

Spiranthes odorata is also an easy one.

Ok - I'll check out all three (I tried the first and they look to be expensive on the first google link - ~ 75, and sold out too!)

Yeah, these can get quite expensive. The ones I recommended are more heat-tolerant than other Cyps and are quite easy to grow, but another one is Cyp. parviflorum var. pubescens, which should do fine in your area as well.

Bletilla striata (and others from that genus) would also do well in zones 6-8 and are much cheaper in general.
