I'm going to miss Redlands once again. I am flying to Phila for a wedding shower. If there is some rain and cooler temps I'll try to coax it on down. I seem to be OOT for several events. Good timing for the wallet bad for my growing collection. Hope you find some nice new chids on your trip. Find some shade.

Hello from Miami!! It's been hellacious!! Reminds me of the weather in Nicaragua. Hot, humid, SUPERHOT. LOL. I had to move my small phal collection from under the mango tree to inside my terrace because it's just too hot, I think. Sigh. Although they were becoming chubettas. LOL.......I have the following outside in my front porch: 1 vanda , 4 catts the biggest one got sunburn, so I moved it to the back) the catts, 7 dendrobium, 2 oncidiums and 1 cymbidium Oh, and 1 epidendrum and my new coconut orchid

I should take a picture cause it looks nice.... I bought some ceramic pots from Isaac farms in homestead, but haven't finished changing all of them.

Can't wait for the Homestead show. I am going friday with my sister. Does anyone know what the entrance fee is?

It's been 96 degrees, dry and quite windy here in Melbourne, Florida. Brush fires have gone out of control with no rain in site. The problem has gotten quite serious with homes catching fire and evacuations. We're allowed to water twice a week but that's not enough. All schools are closing in nearby Palm Bay tomorrow and much of I-95 and other roads are closed. We really need a good rain. Watering the orchids is keeping me busy.

Junebug, we have had some fires along the roadsides (probably from cigarette butts) that have stopped traffic on the the highway, but no danger to homes. Sounds like you guys are having it worse. Yesterday the steady hot dry wind even wilted my staghorn ferns! I have to go drench everything really well before I go to work. Everyone pray for rain!

I haven't had a chance to watch this morning's news, but someone told me 80 homes had been destroyed. In addition to prayer I think we need to do our very best rain dance. The weird thing is our temp this am was 61 degrees with no wind and again, no sign of rain. It's actually a beautiful day. Hopefully mother nature won't make up for this rain deficit by sending multiple hurricanes this summer.
