Default Feral Vanda, among other things

This feral Vanda did not bloom last year.
Little doubt due to the ongoing eruption and the gasses evolved.
I've been watching it closely thinking that it might be likely to bloom soon.
I was right.

I was worried about the coloring of its leaves, afraid it might be getting sunburned.
I don't think it is sunburn.
More probably a reaction to the SOx gasses.

It's coloring has changed.
It is not as spotty as it has been in prior bloomings.
This is of its first bloom in 2016:

2017 was very similar.

Not sure if it's due to aging or the eruption.

Catt maxima, Lalia purpurata, Oncidium Sweet Sugar, Oncid. papio hybrid and something else are also blooming or about to bloom.

Been really busy.
Just got a new roof onto the house, about to renevate our catchment tank, and put a new solar water heating system in.

Just put in a yellow His Biscuit [Hibiscus], 3 gardenias, a Night Blooming Jasmine, and a Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow as well as a few Guzmania Bromeliad hybrids.

We have picked up a taste for Kabocha squash/pumpkins since moving here.
Our lilikoi was killed by the eruption gasses.
I just planted some cucumbers, watermelons, musk melons and kabocha along the lilikoi's trellis.
They're off and running.
Gonna be looking for a new yellow replacement lilikoi [passion fruit] and a purple one too.

I ain't got room to list all the project plans.
I have picked up 4 HD orchids recently.
They go onto the lanai until they finish blooming, then out into the yard.
An Oncid and a mini Nobile have been moved out into the yard with a Doritis hybrid and a Miltoniopsis hybrid still in bloom on the lanai.

The lanai has been redone since I put a new roof on it and replaced all the screening.
A full sized rug [carpet?] and a porch swing have been added.
It is now part of the house's living area.
I'll look around tomorrow and maybe add some more pics of orchids and other things.

Glad to hear from you! Dirtycoconuts, Mike kept the OB "posted" throughout the eruption. If you use the search engine, you might be able to read his very scary, but interesting story.

Almost forgot about you folks.
All is well here.
Insurance company forced us to accept some compensation for our property.
We had a new roof and a solar hot water system installed on the house,
We're going to replace the catchment tank and a few other things before we're done.

Been too busy to pay much attention to orchids, other than to notice them and note they're mostly doing well.

At the moment we're looking heavily into a vacation to Europe next summer/fall.
No rest for the wicked.
