Epipactis helleborine Male
Default Epipactis helleborine

Numerous plants of Epipactis helleborine bordered a forest trail along the Koenigssee in Bavaria. The duff above limestone rocks is thin, few other vegetation, shadowed by large trees, humidity from the nearby lake.

I am always in awe of orchids in the wild....since I live in a concrete jungle and might be rare to see any orchid in situ maybe at Central Park....that is a beautiful Bavarian orchid....

Even in the cities there are various but rather inconspicious orchids - by the roadside and in the parks. This one is more showy- glad you like it.

Cool find. I find these randomly in NYC, right on the street sometimes.
