That's is a awesome plant. The first orchid I found while hiking the glades was a cigar orchid. In the area we found it their was about 6 to 8 plants. I went to check them out in Feb. and ALL were burned out and none of the plant survived.

Justin, I know two very seasoned growers near me that have grown this species for probably over a decade without blooms. Have you seen anything in the plant's natural habitat that triggers the blooming?

They've tried totally dry in winter, watered sparingly in winter, high light, low light, etc. One even exposed a division to a distant blast from a torch after hearing these are from an area that exhibits natural fire ecology.
