Default Mediterranean orchids

Hi all,

Here are a few pics of the orchids I could enjoy during a small trip back to Europe.

Let's start with Serapias neglecta

Where were these photos taken? It seems a landscape from my country...
In fact I know several places where one can find hundreds of these in the wild (as well as several species of Ophrys and Anacamptis and, also, some from the genera Orchis).

rbarata, the pictures were taken in South of France (Var, near Cavalaire).
Actually I feel it is getting more and more rainy in winter since several years so the dry Mediterranean climate may become closer to the maybe a bit more humid Portugal climate (although I am not sure your climate is much more humid...).

I see...both climates are more or less the same. In France its mediterranen climate influenced by the Mediterranean Sea. In Sintra (my location) is the same but influenced by the Atlantic.
The change I've been noticing over the years is that there's a tendency to the rainy season to be concentrated in a short period of time, instead of several months as it used to be. Basically, the rainy days are less during the year, while the amount of rain is the same (causing floods and huge storms).

A few more...

Himathoglossum (Barlia) robertianum (although I feel I was a bit late for those orchids that I never noticed before in this place)

the whole plants

Orchis mascula

the whole plants (colours are bit different as this was from my iphone while the flower was taken with a "real" camera)
