I found these late last summer and something told me they were orchids after some research i found out they were Cypripedium acuales aka (Stemless Ladyslipper). I have been checking every few weeks since March and they are finally in bloom. I think I have attached the photos

Thanks for posting and also for the last pic in its natural habitat. It seems to grow quite shady, or was it late in the evening ?

It was pretty shady. I took the pics around 11 in the morning. they were growing about 15ft away from 3 acre man made pond under an oak tree that was in fairly thick woods. Quite a few pink azaleas too!
