We hiked in the rain a few weeks ago and not even a video can reproduce the silence or any media the smells and whole experience.

I know what you mean. I have been pleasantly surprised and delighted by trees, orchids, herbs, outside flowers and critters upon seeing them in the real world. We don't have many places to find wild orchids here so Ron's wonderful photography is a real pleasure to behold!

Thanks for commenting, Leafmite. If you are interested I can put you in touch with someone in Ohio (if he's okay with that) who knows a great deal about your area's native orchids.

Gosh Ron, those fairy slippers drive me nuts! I guess that is why I am attracted to Pleione.

We have two varieties here in the state and they are quite different and there is also a natural hybrid of the two varieties.
