Default Chamisso's Orchid

This very rare, though rather insignificant orchid, was photographed on Vancouver Island, BC.

Not a very exciting plant, but very exciting to find such a rarity.

Nice find! What colour lies under the petals?

It is exciting, or was for me, WhiteRabbit. And sii, it's green all the way through except for the pollinia which are a orangish. Thanks for looking.

What is exciting is a subjective thing I love the pure green look of these, and it's exciting to see your pictures of rare finds

I'm interested in the flower shape on these. Like little globes on fat side stems, is what I'm seeing as a side stem actually the pod?

I think, if I understand you correctly, Rosie, that what you are seeing is the ovary behind the flower.

Yes, I think that's what it is... noticeably bigger than the flower which makes the flower perch like a little globe on the end

That is the ovary. The flowers appear to be self-pollinating but I have no confirmation of that.
