For the litophytic Pleurothallis/Masdevallia: I am not an expert at all, but isn't it very unusual for both genera to grow in full sun? Based on the flower I was thinking of Masdevallia but I was in doubt because of the for this genus unusual niche it is growing.
It is not the most common trait in Plths or Masd, but yes, most of these lithophytic orchids tend to grow in fairly bright locations. If they aren't growing in full sun, they're growing in places that are very close to being full sun.

There are a few lithophytic Plths or Masd that cannot grow in full sun though, so there are still those that favor shadier conditions.

Thanks for posting. Did you happen to come across (and photograph) any Heliamphora or Brocchinia on your trip?

@King_of_orchid_growing : thanks for the reply, learned something new

@ Andrew: yes, I did come across three species of Brocchinia (B. hechtiodes, the impressive B. tatei and B.reducta) and two species of Heliamphora (H. nutans and H. glabra) and their hybrid. See the hyperlinks.
