Default First Ghost Flowers of the year!

FINALLY got to go out today and was well rewarded. We saw many plants with spikes/buds and 2 plants with single flowers and 1 double flower. We also found a single plant with 4 spikes, although they won't flower at the same time. Also seen a blooming Clamshell, Encyclia tempensis, and Yellow helmet. sorry for he common names.

Very nice!

Dave, what is the non-orchid plant in the 3rd photo that has wrapped roots around the tree trunk? Some sort of "strangler" fig?

You are correct. It is a strangler fig.

What great photos!! I look forwards to your ghost pics every year, it's such a beautiful species. I really hope to be able to go see some one day.
