Default Acronia species (yellow) - Volcán Pichincha, Ecuador

The Acronia were growing on rock ledges along a path. There was a thin covering of moss and some leaf litter that they were growing into. High elevation cloud forest.
Big showy flower on a fairly compact (6") plant. This was one of the few that my fellow bird watchers thought was really worth stopping for.

The one in the third pic is a Pleuro, but it doesn't appear to belong to Acronia.

Nice description of how the plant grows in the wild. It is greatly appreciated. I've always wanted to know about how Pleuros grow in the wild. Thank you.
