Wow never seen califonicum before - reminds me a little of fasciculatum with the multiple, small flowers. Thanks, your photos clearly show your appreciation for these.

Ah—unfortunately not; several of these species have leaves that are almost withered by the time they flower, though. I'm currently thinking of studying computer engineering and maybe doing a double-major or minor in biology!

They do co-occur in some areas! It turns out that Cyp. californicum may be most closely related to some subtropical, multi-flowered species in Mexico. It might also be in its own clade; from what I've read, the multi-flowered growth habit is a more basal/ancestral characteristic in the genus, so a few unrelated groups share this feature.
